Sample management has become increasingly important at every stage of chemical and biological discovery. Control over factors such as sample quality, process efficiency, metadata and miniaturization must be achieved to accelerate both academic and industrial programs. Further complexity arises in maintaining these factors when working with an external research partner. The SLAS 2020 European Sample Management Symposium welcomes all experts in the field of compound and sample management - from scientists on the test bench to executives - to gain new perspectives and exchange innovative solutions to challenges in these areas.

A short story about the use of block chaine to exchange samples and related data
Our journey begins historically and explains the reason why block chain technology was invented in the first place. This leads us to the different trust models that are used and also to the question why Blockchain uses a particular trust model. Then we will have a short introduction to blockchain technology and show an example of how blockchain can be used to exchange samples and related data.

Senior Consultant at wega
Lorenz is a native digital artist who started a career in life science computer science 16 years ago. Over the years, he has worked for many clients in a variety of roles, including software developer, solution architect, business analyst and project manager, using the latest technologies available on the market.
One of his tasks at wega is to track new emerging technologies and evaluate their use in the life science industry - for example AI and machine learning, distributed networks like block chain or peer-to-peer networks.
Besides researching new technologies, Lorenz also follows the latest agile project methodologies and applies them to develop and deliver high quality software to customers.
