Article in Nature: Standardization and digitization of clinical data in multiple sclerosis
We congratulate Christophe Girardey on the successful publication of a Nature Reviews Neurology article for which he was a co-author. This article was written under the direction of the University Hospital Basel. Together with Dr. Marcus D'Souza, Ms. Athina Papadopoulou and Prof. Dr. Ludwig Kappos, an article was written on the topic: Standardization and digitization of clinical data in multiple sclerosis.
Abstract
Standardization is necessary to ensure the reliability of clinical data and to enable longitudinal and cross-sectional comparisons of data collected in different centers and countries.
For patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), standardized clinical data is needed to monitor disability and gather real-world evidence for use in research.
This perspective describes attempts to improve the standardization and digitization of clinical data in MS, including digital electronic health record systems and applications that attempt to provide a comprehensive assessment of patients' neurological deficits and their impact on daily life.
